About Professor Peter Mei's research
Professor Peter Mei is a specialist orthodontist who teaches undergraduate and postgraduate orthodontics, provides clinical services, and supervises DClinDent and PhD students in the Faculty of Dentistry. He is currently President of the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) Orthodontic Group, and serves as a board member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) Board of Studies Orthodontics.
Peter's research interests include orthodontics, biofilms, atomic force microscopy, halitosis, artificial intelligence, patient-centred care, and dental education. He has published 200 papers in international journals and has received 30 international awards in recognition of his academic contributions, including the Houston Oral Research Award from the European Orthodontic Society, the Oral Biology Award from the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR), and the Postgraduate Supervisor Award from the Sir John Walsh Research Institute (SJWRI). He also contributes to the academic community as an associate editor and editorial board member for several scientific journals.
