Aotearoa’s longest running arts and literary journal, Landfall Tauraka celebrates its milestone 250th issue in October 2025.

To mark the occasion, we’re inviting scholarly and creative contributions from around the motu (country) to reflect on the journal’s heritage and present impact, and with an eye to its future.

This one-day symposium will feature scholarly presentations from historians, literary and art critics, and contemporary writers. We will also be hosting a roundtable discussion between the current editor of Landfall Tauraka and several previous editors, along with poetry readings from some of the poets whose work features in the milestone issue.

This symposium is supported by funding gratefully received by Te Kete Aronui, the Division of Humanities, Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka.
