Cook MOH logoIn collaboration with the Cook Islands Ministry of Health, the Rural Postgraduate Programme held the annual Rural Generalist CME Workshop at Rarotonga Hospital in November 2016. This was the third time this workshop has been held in Rarotonga. It was attended by more than 20 doctors from New Zealand. Many of the Rarotongan clinicians also attended the sessions during their working day. Having the workshop at Rarotonga also allowed clinicians from the outer islands, such as Aitutaki, to attend.

In addition about half the sessions were delivered by Rarotonga clinicians. Once again, the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department ran a scenario based workshop for the participants. This was truely a cross-culture educational exchange and the Rural Programme is grateful for the input of the Cook Islands Ministry of Health and the hospitality of all its staff.

The CME workshop will return to Rarotonga on 29–31 August 2018.
