Coleen Caldwell and Karyn Johnson are the Academic Co-ordinators for OBGY 719 Obstetrics and Gynaecology Entry Residential Course 2.

Topics covered include:

  • Antenatal screening, and diagnosis and management of medical conditions during pregnancy, including obstetric emergencies.
  • Urogynaecology, subfertility, contraception choices, menopause, and office gynaecological procedural skills.

OBGY 719 is a three-day residential paper run at the University of Otago, Christchurch. It is a compulsory paper for the PGDipOMG. The paper runs twice yearly.

All sessions are held in the University of Otago's Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Level 3, Christchurch Women's Hospital, 2 Riccarton Ave. Please note that the sessions start at 8:00am on Day 1 and finish at 4:15 pm on Day 3. Morning and afternoon teas are provided and there are cafes on-site and nearby for the purchase of lunch.

Who should take OBGY 719?

OBGY 719 is the exit residential which covers revision of topics selected by candidates and tutors. The aim of the paper is to provide revision on topics which may have been covered in the PGDipOMG programme.

The course includes a variety of topics covering O&G and neonates, and largely uses interactive case-based teaching to cover aspects less easily learned via reading and video-based conferences.
