Research
Prasath has a primary interest in rehabilitation of individuals with pain and physical disability. Prasath completed his doctoral studies in 2012 on postural balance in lower limb amputations. He has since completed two postdoctoral fellowships, first at Brunel University, London (one year), followed by another at School of Physiotherapy, University of Otago (three years) where he was involved in projects investigating gait and balance, with an application to people with pain and disability. In March 2017, he accepted an academic position at the School of Physiotherapy to develop and strengthen balance research across lifespan.
His current investigations and research interests:
- Postural control and functional balance across lifespan and in individuals with physical disability
- Motor control and cortical re-organisation in persons with lower limb amputation
- Physical activity and quality of life in persons with long-term physical disability
Research grants (as Prinicpal Investigator):
- Jack Thompson Arthritis – Otago Medical Research Foundation (2016–2017)
- Lottery Health Research grants (2015–2017)
- Jack Thompson Arthritis – Otago Medical Research Foundation (2015–2016)
