    Examination methods and principles used in research. Develops skills to interpret, critically evaluate, and apply research in the nutritional sciences.

    The ability to interpret, critically evaluate, and apply research principles are key qualities sought by employers. This paper will allow you to develop these skills through a variety of different research designs and principles related to health and human nutrition.

    Learning Outcomes

    By the end of HUNT 441 students should be able to:

    • Apply appropriate methods to different research questions and settings
    • Retrieve and critically interpret nutrition research literature and evaluate the quality of research studies
    • Identify the stages and describe the tasks involved in each stage of the nutrition research process
    • Describe ethical research principles
    • Interpret basic statistical models used in nutrition research
    • Describe the uses, strengths, and limitations of different research approaches
    • Apply appropriate nutritional assessment methods to different research settings
