Overview
Peter Bannister (1939–2008) gained a PhD in Aberdeen in the relatively new field of physiological ecology, lecturing first at the University of Glasgow, then at the new University of Stirling.
In 1979 he was appointed Professor of Botany and Head of the Department of Botany at the University of Otago.
He retired in 2005 and was granted the status of Emeritus Professor.
