Study towards a Social Work qualification
The Master of Social and Community Work (Applied) might be for you if you do not have a bachelor's degree in Social Work.
The Master of Social and Community Work (Applied) is a taught masters (undertaken by papers) that engages students in critical approaches to theory, evidence and practice in social work. It provides eligibility to register as a social worker with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB).
This 240-point programme provides an option for students to undertake advanced-level study of the discipline of Social Work.

Eligibility to apply
When submitting your application, you will need to provide information related to:
- Personal details and contact information
- Educational background
- Attend an interview
- Safety checks under the Children's Act 2014
For your application to be considered you will need 2 completed referee reports (these cannot be family members, partners, or people living at the same address as you). Examples of suitable referees:
- Employers
- Teachers, tutors or mentors
- Church leaders
- Kaumatua
