Global Opportunities week: 10–13 August

Join us for a range of seminars at the Union Main Common room.

  • Learn about the Otago Global Student Exchange Programme
  • Attend a region focused seminar, highlighting all options in that region
  • Learn about academics and how to fit an exchange semester/year to your Otago degree
  • Meet students on exchange at Otago, and Otago students who have recently returned from their time overseas

Global internships – 10:00am, 11 August
Make the most of a global experience for personal and career success. A global internship or exchange can help you stand out in today’s competitive job market. This session will explore how to find internship opportunities abroad and highlight the valuable transferable skills you can gain from an international experience.

Funding your exchange – 2:00pm, 11 August
Learn about the average costs of going on exchange, the scholarships and awards available to Otago students, and practical tips for saving and budgeting for your time abroad.

Academic planning – 2:00pm, 12 August
The Student Development team will guide you through best practices for planning a semester or year abroad, including how to align your exchange with your Otago degree and academic goals.

Exchange student panel – 2:00pm, 13 August
Curious about studying overseas? Come along to hear directly from Otago students who’ve recently returned from a semester or year abroad! They’ll share what it’s really like to go on exchange—covering everything from academics and accommodation to budgeting and making friends. Bring your questions and get honest, firsthand advice to help you plan your own exchange journey.

Otago Global Info Session – 1:00pm, 10–13 August
Find out how you can study overseas as part of the Otago Global Student Exchange Programme. This session will provide an overview of the application process, how to get academic advice and course credit, available scholarships and awards, and tips on choosing a host university.
