Students are responsible for buying their own textbooks. The cost of books can vary widely from subject to subject.

Visit the University Book Shop (UBS) website for specific textbook information.

Textbooks are often already student discounted, and you can get a 10% discount with your student ID when purchasing other books through UBS. If buying online, make sure you note your student ID in the "Shipping Instructions".

All textbooks can be purchased at the On Campus store in the OUSA Archway. A selection of second-hand books can also be bought at the beginning of the academic year.  Keep an eye out for details around campus before first semester starts.

Library copies of textbooks

The University of Otago Library holds copies of most textbooks to support student learning. These are often in the Reserve Collection for short-term loan to ensure fair access during periods of high demand.

The Library also provides access to ebook versions of many textbooks.
