Regulations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (PGCertHealSc)
Admission to the Programme
- Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences).
- Every applicant must
- have been awarded a bachelor's degree in a health-related field or possess an appropriate health professional qualification requiring at least three years' full-time tertiary study;
- if enrolling for an endorsed diploma, have experience of or be currently working in the relevant field of health care;
Structure of the Programme
The programme of study shall consist of approved papers, from the schedule of endorsed options, to the value of 60 points.
Duration of the Programme
- A candidate for the certificate shall normally follow a programme of study for one semester of full-time study, or the equivalent in part-time study.
- A candidate shall complete the requirements for the certificate within two years of admission to the programme.
Variations
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences) may in exceptional circumstances approve a course of study which does not comply with these regulations.

Course fees are fully funded by Te Pou national workforce for addiction and mental health for CBT training through the University of Otago. Acceptance to the course secures funding, with no further application required. Places are limited so please apply early.
Students seeking Te Pou funding usually apply initially for the Certificate (PGCertHealSc endorsed in CBT), even if they intend to complete the Diploma. Enrolment in the Diploma (PGDipHealSc endorsed in CBT) is available every second year to applicants who have completed the Certificate or equivalent study.
