Research interests and activities

Anna is a Research Fellow with the Cancer and Chronic Conditions (C3) Research Group, working on the epidemiology associated with current and future provision of cancer treatment for Māori.

Anna is also undertaking a PhD, investigating the measurement of optimal cancer care pathways in Aotearoa New Zealand, with a focus on those pathways that are most important for improving Māori cancer survival.

Anna’s research interests include epidemiology, data linkage, pathways of care, cancer, and mental health and addiction.

Anna joined the University of Otago as a Research Fellow in 2014 to work on the Burden of Disease Epidemiology, Equity and Cost-Effectiveness Programme (BODE³). Prior to working for the University of Otago, Anna worked at the Ministry of Health as a Senior Advisor (Epidemiology) with a focus on data linkage and use of the national health data collections.

Her interest in mental health and addiction began with her undergraduate and MSc degrees in psychology at the University of Otago in Dunedin, and through work at the Mental Health Commission.
