Research interests

My research interests lie within wildlife disease ecology and conservation biology. I use metagenomic and metatranscriptomic sequencing, bioinformatics and ecological approaches to investigate pathogen diversity, host–microbe interactions and disease in wildlife. I am particularly interested in understanding the diversity and evolution of wildlife pathogens, how microorganisms are transmitted within and between species, and how disease processes influence wildlife populations and conservation. My research encompasses native and introduced species and spans questions from pathogen discovery to host–microbe evolution.

Prospective students

I am currently recruiting a small number of MSc and PhD students – if you’re interested please contact me directly.
