Theoretical Genetics

Theoretical Genetics encompasses mathematical studies of genetic phenomena, using both analytical and computer-simulation approaches.

For example, genomic imprinting, in which the expression of a gene depends on which parent passed it on, has been mathematically modeled to help us understand why such a form of gene expression might evolve, as well as to explain how it affects the way in which natural selection moulds the genetic variation found in populations.
