Department of the Dean

The Department of the Dean is the administrative centre for the University of Otago, Christchurch (UOC) for both academic and non-academic matters.

Biomedical Research Support

The concept of "Shared Facilities" was set up many years ago and still provides a basic core of equipment for the use of all groups within the School.
There are a number of key staff who are employed to support the laboratory areas

Biostatistics

Biostatistical consultancy involves advice on study design, methodology, computer software, data analysis and preparation, and revision of articles and reports.

The biostatisticians can also act as collaborators during research analysis or on long term studies, and provide training in statistical methods.

Canterbury Medical Library

Welcome to Canterbury Medical Library, the key provider of library and information services for Christchurch School of Medicine and Health Sciences and Canterbury District Health Board.

Health and Safety

All occupants and visitors to the school are expected to be familiar with this plan, to avoid hazards, and to know how to react to an emergency.

Medical Education Unit

The Medical Education Unit oversees and assists in development of the undergraduate curriculum for students undertaking the University of Otago Faculty of Medicine MBChB course.

MedMoodle Support

MedMoodle provides staff, 4th year and 5th year students with access to communication tools, course materials, discussion forums, online assessment and many other features to help manage their study or teaching.

Blackboard Support

Blackboard provides staff and 6th year Trainee Interns with access to communication tools, course materials, discussion forums, online assessment and many other features to help manage their study or teaching.

Research Office

This is a shared facility funded by the University of Otago, Christchurch and the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB). It provides open access service for anyone involved in health research working within these organisations.

Technology Services

The Technology Services team is responsible for the delivery of all IT services to the University of Otago, Christchurch campus, and serves the School's strategic imperitives.

UOC Simulation Centre

The Simulation Centre has rooms set up like a GP’s surgery, a hospital ward room and an emergency department resuscitation area.

It allows students to develop their skills in a manner which is consistent with current best practice in medical education.
