Hayward College - full width

Former maternity hospital

Hayward College was developed from the former Queen Mary Maternity hospital in 1992.

Named after Jock and Vera Hayward

It was named after brother and sister Jock and Vera Hayward, who had long associations with the University and the Hospital respectively.

Great Facilities

Since its hospital days, Hayward has seen major upgrades, including a fully functional dining room and kitchen (serving 3 meals a day), computer room, bathroom restructuring and installation of double-glazed windows.

The Hayward Building Project, finished early 2019, extended the dining room and common space on ground floor and added additional bedrooms.

Hayward is now a modern 5-storey, 176-bedroom residential college. The majority of bedrooms are larger than the average sized rooms.

Other amenities include:

  • 2 spacious lifts
  • Bike Storage
  • 2 bathroom areas per floor
  • Convenient intercom system
