Photo of Hamish Spencer. Professor Hamish Spencer is the Head of the Department of Zoology at the University of Otago. Hamish received a Fulbright Graduate Award in 1983 to assist his PhD study at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

“Fulbright made a major difference to my time in America, which has had a lasting effect on my life. As a result of the five years I spent there, I have long-standing friends, colleagues and family throughout the US, and I make frequent visits back there for conferences and to see friends and family. In short, Fulbright has changed my life.”

As Fulbright New Zealand’s Campus Adviser for the University of Otago, Hamish is available to discuss his exchange experiences with students and staff, as well as to give basic information about Fulbright awards. He welcomes enquiries from potential Fulbright applicants.
