Food Science: Innovative and scientific thought for food
Combine your understanding of scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry and microbiology, with consumer insights to design safe, nutritious and sustainable foods for a wide variety of markets.
At Otago, we offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Food Science, as well as the undergraduate degree in Agricultural Innovation, and postgraduate qualifications in Food and Agriculture.
Graduates go on to rewarding careers in local and multinational food companies, ingredient suppliers, government agencies and research institutes in areas such as food processing, product development and quality management, market research and sensory analysis.
Explore what makes Science at Otago so special
It's not just our people – the experts in their fields and passionate students – but also the places we teach and learn: Otago Harbour, Fiordland, Stewart Island, Antarctica and the Pacific that mean our students leave here with highly sought-after skills and experiences.
