At Otago practice and analytical investigation inform and support one another. You'll study different times and cultures from a theatre perspective, ranging from Shakespeare, to performance art, to bicultural theatre.

Your lecturers have professional as well as academic expertise in the fields of acting, producing, directing, criticism, stage design, lighting and sound design, playwriting and translation.

Study Theatre for your bachelor's degree

You can study Theatre Studies:

  • as a major in the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Arts and Commerce (BACom), Bachelor of Arts and Science (BASc)
  • as part of the Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) degree
  • as a specialised minor in a range of degrees, or
  • as stand-alone interest papers
