Research interests

I'm a Research Fellow and Teaching Fellow with a background  in Social Anthropology (MA and PhD). I specialise in bringing qualitative research and humanities into research and teaching typically dominated by quantitative, scientific approaches.

Background and interests

I am a social anthropologist with special interests in health, migration, ageing and medical education. I have experience working on a variety of topics from children’s playground behaviour, to Pacific families' sleep habits, to older New Zealanders’ reactions to migrants, to refugees’ experiences of healthcare. Thus, I have had the privilege of working with many different groups including elderly people, children, Pasifika, Māori, migrants, refugees, students and more.

I bring a humanities lens and a qualitative approach to any topic, including those typically addressed by the other sciences and/or a quantitative approach. My hope and motivation is to humbly work with those who have under-told stories to help tell those stories, thereby addressing inequities and growing thriving communities.
