Research summary
Lorna investigates appropriate medicines use using electronic prescribing data.

Research

Lorna is an MBChB and PhD student based in University of Otago, Christchurch, with an interest in medical informatics. She links electronic prescribing data from the inpatient prescribing system MedChart to siloed data from other hospital systems to quantify appropriate medicines use. Her research projects to date have focused on indications for medicine use, polypharmacy in the hospital setting, and antithrombotic use post-ischemic stroke. Lorna is also passionate about supporting student research, and in her spare time is the Editor-in-Chief of the New Zealand Medical Student Journal.
