Research

Dr Arthi Senthilkumar has education qualifications in both dental public health and prosthodontics which helped her to contribute to knowledge base in both fields, especially dental epidemiology, dental materials and dental education.

Dental epidemiology and public health

Oral health literacy of an individual has a direct effect on one’s oral health. In her PhD research, extensive dental epidemiological data was collected from a large adolescent population and compared with their oral health literacy. This research identified the rare predictors of dental caries in the Indian adolescent population namely mother’s education status, father’s employment status, and child’s caste system.

Dental education

Dr Senthilkumar has conducted various dental education research including sustaining clinical teaching staff and mobility of international students after graduation. She is currently working on adding oral health education in non-dental health programmes.

Dental materials

She has also been involved in various dental materials research and is currently starting a new project on developing new biomaterials.

Research methodology

Dr Senthilkumar has strong research methodological and statistical skills which helps her to supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students efficiently. She has experience in conducting and supervising qualitative, quantitative, clinical and laboratory studies.
