Research
Dr Francesc March is a New Zealand and internationally trained ophthalmologist / eye surgeon at Otago University / Dunedin Hospital. With over 17 years of experience in all areas of ophthalmology, he specialises in retina surgery, glaucoma, and complex cataracts.
Dr March holds a Doctor of Medicine with specialisation in ophthalmology, along with a Master's and PhD in eye research. He possesses advanced expertise in complex cataract surgery, retinal detachment, macular diseases, glaucoma, and ocular trauma. His primary area of specialisation is retinal diseases, having completed over three years of dedicated fellowship training. Additionally, Dr March has undertaken fellowships in both glaucoma and cataract surgery across New Zealand, Europe, and North America.
Dr March’s research interests focus on understanding the causes of vision loss and improve the organisation of medical services to enhance clinical care. He has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and has served as an investigator in international clinical studies. He also regularly participates in national and international ophthalmology congresses.
