Research

Research Associate Professor Claire Cameron has expertise in the methods and design aspects of health-related research. Her involvement in research is varied but, preferably, it is as a member of a research team right from the beginning - early involvement in any project is key.

Claire has worked as a statistician since 1990 first in official statistics then she did a master’s using a multi-state mark recapture model to estimate the msurvival rate of hector's dolphins around Banks' Peninsula (1994). She taught statistics at first and second year level for many years. Her PhD investigated the use of open population capture-recapture models to estimate diabetes prevalence and incidence in Otago. She joined the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine in 2010 and has been a member of the Biostatistics Centre since its inception in 2017.
