Based in Dunedin Hospital, Otago Clinical Audit is a research unit housed within the Department of Surgery and Critical Care (Dunedin).
Since 1987, the Clinical Audit team have been refining a program that collects, verifies, and reports audit data. Information gained from this process has enabled surgeons at Dunedin Hospital to incorporate relatively unobtrusive audit practices into the routines of busy surgical units.
Now, after three decades of careful development and refinement, Clinical Audit are proud to make the DIVA software available to clinicians, hospitals, and health systems worldwide.

Director
James Haddow
James has joined us from the UK system with a wide portfolio of research interests. His role as Director for the Otago Clinical Audit stems from an interest in software ever since he started programming on a BBC microcomputer. To this role, he brings experience in coding relational databases, outcomes research experience, and training in quality improvement.
Our staff
With over 25 years' experience in both performing audits, and providing audit software and services to organisations throughout Australia and New Zealand, our staff are committed to:
- The ongoing development and improvement of the processes of audit and outcome evaluation, as well as the software to support these processes
- Working in close collaboration with clinicians, and ensuring clinical audit works for them
- Encouraging research which evaluates and improves patient care through clinical audit
