COVID-19 ESS Update

Kia ora koutou katoa

We hope everything went well with the reopening of your school or kura to all students.
With the move to Level 2 we would like to update you with University of Otago Education Support Services’ (ESS) approach to providing Professional Learning and Development (PLD) support to schools/kura across the country.
In the last seven weeks we have seen a significant shift in the way that PLD has been delivered via online learning, and with this we have found that there have been many positive aspects for both schools/kura as well as our facilitation team. We see substantial benefits in a blended approach of onsite and online PLD delivery.
Facilitators across all of our contracts, including PfS, PCT/OTT, Reading Recovery, School Leavers’ Toolkit and centrally-funded PLD have the expertise to take varying approaches to PLD delivery and will adapt their support to the needs of your school.
These approaches are in line with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, and Worksafe NZ Guidelines.

ESS PLD facilitators will be contacting each of their schools to consult how best to deliver centrally-funded professional learning in a blended delivery model including face to face and online, according to your needs.
