Apply for Health Sciences professional programmes via the Socioeconomic Equity group
Applications for health professional programmes are open from 1 July to mid-August.
To apply via the Socioeconomic Equity group you will need to:
- Provide an official letter from your secondary school(s) confirming its EQI number (in bands Above Average/Many/Most) or decile 1-3 prior to 2023, and your enrolment in years 11, 12, and 13 within the last five years.

Once your school letter has been completed, email it to: eq.project@otago.ac.nz
and
- Using the form below, write a personal statement (500-word limit) that:
- Explains your understanding of the reasons for the Socioeconomic Equity group of admission to health professional programmes;
- Reflects on your personal experiences to describe how socioeconomic background informs practice as a health professional, and your commitment to advancing the health needs of lower socioeconomic communities.

Please note that the Alternative category is not an option under the Socioeconomic Equity group.
