The Otago Genomics Facility (OGF) is an Illumina Propel-certified service provider for Illumina HiSeq 2500 and MiSeq sequencing platforms.
Illumina sequencing enables a range of DNA and RNA based application including genome and targeted capture sequencing, mutation discovery, transcriptome profiling and the identification of epigenetic changes.
The HiSeq 2500 sequencing system offers the flexibility of Rapid or High Output sequencing. Integration of a MiSeq QC in the sequencing process has optimised library performance providing tighter control of multiplexing within HiSeq sequencing lanes.
The MiSeq sequencing system offers longer read lengths with high quality data with short run times.

Nanostring nCounter Analysis System
The Otago Genomics Facility is a Nanostring nCounter Analysis System core facility.
The NanoString nCounter Analysis System offers an alternative to qPCR, and is a cost-effective way to easily profile the expression of hundreds of genes, proteins, miRNA, or copy number variants simultaneously with high sensitivity and precision, facilitating a wide variety of basic research and translational medicine applications, including biomarker discovery and validation.
Nanostring nCounter also provides a validation tool for next generation sequencing data. The robust nature of the amplification-free chemistry allows researchers to measure subtle changes from small and degraded samples such as clinical tissue biopsies.
