Research

Philippa started her professional life as a secondary school teacher, including being a Head of Department and eLearning leader. Through her experiences supporting teaching staff to embrace the possibilities of eLearning, Philippa then faciliatated teacher professional learning and development (PLD) and undertook doctoral research in the field of teacher PLD. She constantly wonders about what might nurture teachers of all varieties to adapt their teaching and learning practices.

Philippa now works with staff on a range of educational matters including the development, teaching, assessment, and evaluation of courses; professional development and learning; and education research.

Philippa’s research interests are wide, but she has interests in:

  • Critical posthuman approaches to education and research
  • Play and game-based learning in higher education
  • Research-based approaches to making a difference in teaching and learning

She is keen to work with postgraduate students in any of these research areas. Please contact her directly by email.
