Born and raised in Samoa, Tafā migrated with his family to Aotearoa at the age of 13 where he completed secondary studies in Masterton. He moved to Dunedin in 2020 to pursue tertiary studies at the University of Otago. Tafā studied a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology and completed an honours degree in 2023.

With his experience working with students for three years as a sub warden, Tafā has moved to the Va’a o Tautai – Centre for Pacific health and undertakes a Programme Coordinator role within the Pacific Opportunities Programmes at Otago (POPO). Tafā works to support Pacific students in Health Sciences through POPO’s mentoring and academic support services. He is passionate about engaging with Pacific peoples and is embedded within the Samoan community in Dunedin.
