Information Technology Services (ITS) can manage and maintain teaching and computer rooms on behalf of University of Otago departments.

Departmental teaching room management and support

If your department has its own teaching rooms, ITS can provide day-to-day support as required.

ITS has a 50-point lecture theatre equipment check that can be performed on your teaching rooms. This covers the following areas:


  • general room inspection
  • lighting and electrical
  • heating and ventilation
  • furniture


  • DVD players and overhead projectors
  • computing systems
  • data projectors


  • assistance with equipment and training
  • hotline support for problem resolution

ITS can also advise you on equipment upgrades and long-term planning for your teaching rooms.

Departmental computer room management and support

ITS runs a growing number of departmental computer rooms and labs on behalf of departments. The computers in these rooms use the ITS-managed student desktop. ITS can accommodate a wide range of different system requirements in collaboration with your department.
