This prestigious event is delivered by Te Huka Mātauraka in conjunction with he tangata no Puketeraki marae. The pōwhiri is for all new arriving Māori tauira and whānau, and gives mana whenua ki Ōtākou the opportunity to welcome you to Otago in the right way. Due to large numbers of tauira, we will be running two pōwhiri on the day – one in the morning for Humanities, Business School and Sciences tauira, and one in the afternoon for Health Sciences and Pathway tauira.

Schedule

Cohort 1 (Humanities, Commerce, Sciences)

Registration: 8am at Te Huka Mātauraka, 515 Castle Street North

Pōwhiri: 10am at Puketeraki Marae, 520 Apes Road, Karitane

Cohort 2 (Health Sciences and Pathway)

Registration: 11:15am at Te Huka Mātauraka, 515 Castle Street North

Pōwhiri: 1pm at Puketeraki Marae, 520 Apes Road, Karitane

Transport

Tauira are asked to register at Te Huka Mātauranga at the times listed above, and will be transported by bus to the marae. Whānau are welcome to join us on the buses or to make their own way to the marae.
