Are you a mature adult aged 40 to 60 years who has had an unsteady moment?
This study aims to explore the perspectives of mature adults who have experienced unsteady moments. This study will help inform researchers on the challenges with balance, coping strategies, and the broader impacts on their daily lives.
You may be eligible to participate if you are:
- Aged 40–60 years
- Have experienced or currently experiencing an unsteady moment (slip, trip or lost balance)
- Do not have any underlying medical conditions that lead to balance difficulties
If you are interested to participate you will:
Complete an “expression of interest” form and subsequently complete an “information and consent form” which contains participant consent form, a study information sheet, and further demographic and screening questions to determine your eligibility.
If you are eligible to participate:
You will be asked to participate in a one-to-one interview with Primary Supervisor Dr Prasath Jayakaran and Honours student George Shamon. This will be a phone call or via Zoom (approximately 30–45 minutes). We will discuss your thoughts and beliefs around the unsteady moments you have experienced.

As a participant in this study, you will be given the option to review the material collected once it has been fully analysed. The findings from this study will help in the development of future research, developing future theoretical models, providing much needed attention to this under researched area.
