Digital Technologies, Business and Entrepreneurship

At the University of Otago, Queenstown students can access master's-level degree programmes, professional development, and a hands-on pathway into entrepreneurship. We will be partnering with leading New Zealand and global enterprises to deliver future-focused education opportunities that drive regional growth, national development, and provide global impact.

From 2026, students can access:

  • Short courses and executive education in business and leadership, through our Otago Business School Queenstown Executive Education Programme (including the AI Residency).

From 2027, the University will offer:

  • The Masters of Digital Technologies, which will be offered exclusively from Queenstown, will provide an opportunity for professionals to pivot or accelerate their careers into the technology industry.
  • The Otago Business School’s Bachelor of Entrepreneurship through an articulation pathway with Queenstown Resort College.  This pathway allows students to gain a University of Otago degree locally in Queenstown, and will actively provide opportunities for learning alongside industry and entrepreneurial mentors.

Our vision and roadmap

The University is building upon its existing presence in the Queenstown Lakes with scalable programmes and research activities.  In the long-term, a Queenstown campus will be purpose-built to support learners through facilities designed for study, wellbeing, and community connection.

Otago’s Queenstown offering will grow over time:

  • From 2026–2027:
Launch of business short courses, executive education, and initial degree pathways. Research activity aligned to regional interests and of national significance, and also in collaboration with community partners.
  • From 2027 onwards:
New postgraduate programmes, expanded study options, and further research and industry engagement.
  • Long term:
A purpose-built campus to support students with facilities focused on learning, and wellbeing (and amenities needed in a rapidly growing community).

This staged approach ensures programmes are high quality, well supported, and connected to real opportunity.
