Background
Courtney McAlevey is a Teaching Fellow and Assistant Research Fellow at the School of Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Sciences. She completed a double degree in Physical Education and Human Nutrition at Otago, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) in Auckland. After 3.5 years teaching Health and PE in Auckland, Courtney spent five years overseas, teaching in London and the United Arab Emirates.
Now back in her hometown of Dunedin, she co-coordinates the SPEX 316 Practicum paper and is studying toward a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health. Courtney is passionate about helping students develop critical thinking and creativity through practical experiences, bridging the gap between university and the sport industry.
Outside of work, you’ll find her spending time with family, staying active, and enjoying a good coffee.

Research
Courtney’s research interests centre on the intersection of education, technology, and public health. She is currently supporting a European co-design research project, CPRUnlmtd, which explores how schools can be better supported to deliver CPR training to students.
