The Pacific Islands Centre was really helpful as an undergraduate; I’m very grateful for the extra tutorials they provided. If you’re thinking about Otago, take a leap of faith and come down to Dunedin! The experience is life changing and you’ll make friends who become family.

Undergraduate studies

Elisepa’s university experience was made possible thanks to a University of Otago Pacific People’s Entrance Scholarship.

“To study Law at Otago, you have to choose another area of study – at least for your first year – so I decided to do a double degree in Law and Pacific Islands Studies. I’m fascinated by the law and my goal was to use a legal background to assist my Pacific community.”

Postgraduate studies

Elisepa now works part-time as a solicitor while studying for a Master of Indigenous Studies.

“My focus area is exploring the history and development of the University of Otago Pacific Islands Students’ Association and its contribution to the success of Pacific students at Otago. Once I finish my degree, I will transition into a full-time role. In the near future, I aspire to use my combined qualifications to give legal aid and achieve a greater good for my Pacific community.”
