Te Pou Whirinaki is a place where you can pause, recharge, and feel supported throughout your time at university. Whether you want to talk through a challenge, take a break, or explore ways to strengthen your wellbeing, you'll find a safe, welcoming environment and people who are here to listen.
We provide immediate wellbeing support, practical guidance, and help you understand the options available to you. If ongoing or specialist support is needed, we'll help you take the next step and access the services that best meet your needs.
Hauora Connectors
Hauora Connectors provide holistic, confidential, and student centred wellbeing support. They work alongside you to understand your needs, develop practical strategies, and help you overcome challenges so you can thrive academically and personally.
Our team of five Hauora Connectors has specialised focus areas, but every Connector is available to support any Otago student. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming service for people of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, cultures, faiths, and abilities.
Peer Supporters
Our Peer Supporters are current University of Otago students who understand the challenges of balancing study with work, family, and other commitments. They offer a listening ear, encouragement, practical tips, and the reassurance of talking with someone who has experienced student life themselves.
Whether you're managing study pressures, building confidence, or simply want to connect with someone who understands, our Peer Supporters are here to support you throughout your university journey.
Te Pou Whirinaki is a warm, inviting space where everyone is welcome.
