Regulations for the Postgraduate Diploma in Chaplaincy (PGDipChap)
Admission to the Programme
- Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Humanities).
- Every applicant must have been awarded a bachelor’s degree or have alternative qualifications or experience acceptable to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Humanities).
Structure of the Programme
- The programme of study shall consist of six papers with a value of 120 points of which three shall be chosen from MINS 410, MINS 411, MINS 415, MINS 424 and three shall be chosen from BIBS 413, CHTH 415, CHTH 416, CHTH 420, CHTH 422, CHTH 423, MINS 405, MINS 408, MINS 412, MINS 413, MINS 414, MINS 415, MINS 416
- A candidate who has completed the requirements for the Postgraduate Certificate in Chaplaincy shall be exempted from those papers in the programme for the diploma which have been previously passed for the certificate.
- With prior approval, relevant postgraduate papers worth up to the equivalent of 40 points may be credited from another department or from another university or tertiary institution.
Duration of the Programme
The programme shall normally be completed on a part-time basis and requires the equivalent of one year of full-time study.
Level of Award of the Diploma
The diploma may be awarded with distinction or with credit.
Variations
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Humanities) may in exceptional circumstances approve a course of study which does not comply with these regulations.
