Research

Neihana holds the position of an early career researcher within the formal academic structure, however this designation is contextualised by over two decades of consistent engagement in rangahau and a two-decade long personal journey of reclaiming his ancestral language.

Neihana approaches his research as an established professional, leveraging this deep foundation of lived experience and mātauranga that precedes his formal academic title. His PhD research specifically explores the intergenerational transmission of language and culture through the lens of a father, translating a lifetime of cultural dedication into rigorous, impactful rangahau that extends beyond the typical scope of an early career academic.

Teaching

With over 20 years of hands-on experience within the education system, Neihana is a seasoned educator. His practice is built upon a strong grounding in wānanga and broader educational  frameworks. Neihana leverages this wealth of lived experiences and mātauranga to foster inclusive, effective and culturally responsive learning environments for students and peers alike.
