Every year the University of Otago, Wellington hosts more than 40 students as part of the Summer Studentship research programme. Each project is approximately 10 weeks full‑time commencing in November.

Students will get an introduction to research methods in fields that are of interest to them, such as public health, clinical or laboratory-based research.

The programme relies heavily on sponsorship from external organisations. The goal of the programme is to support students in their research careers by giving them the experience of working with leading health researchers. As a Summer Student, you will get the opportunity to work in an area that interests you – this may be public health or in the lab exploring new treatments for cancer. You will get to present your work at the Poster Showcase, and your work could be written up as a formal publication.

The Summer Studentships research programme is part of the University of Otago Wellington ( UOW ). Students at UOW study medicine, radiation therapy, physiotherapy, postgraduate qualifications and papers, and undertake a wide variety of health-based research.
