BSc(Hons), PhD (Otago)

Background

After completing a BSc with Honours at Victoria University of Wellington, I undertook a PhD at the University of Otago. This focused on understanding the interactions between cardiovascular and respiratory control. I then did a postdoctoral fellowship at Michigan State University examined neural control of the cardiovascular system, before returning to the University of Otago, Wellington.

My research interests are now in clinical cardiovascular medicine, including the use of biomarkers in risk stratification, acute myocardial infarction, use of implanted cardiac devices and personalized approaches to clinical care. Application of cardiovascular physiology to clinical questions remains an area of interest for me. In addition,  I am involved in supporting registrar research activities in a range of clinical settings.
