Department of Psychological Medicine
The Department of Psychological Medicine is one of the largest Departments in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Over the past decade it has grown from a staff of less than ten to over forty.
The Department continues to be actively involved in the teaching of Psychological Medicine to medical students.
The Department is also responsible for the academic programme for Christchurch’s successful psychiatric registrar training programme. In recent years, the Department has expanded into new teaching areas including postgraduate papers in mental health, mental health nursing, addictions, child and adolescent mental health, forensic mental health, eating disorders, psycho-oncology, primary care mental health and interpersonal psychotherapy.
There are approximately 200 postgraduate and research students currently studying with the Department.
