Your first year collegiate experience only comes around once – be sure to make the most of it! You will have access to heaps of fantastic events, all planned with you in mind. Take a chance, try something new, and encourage your mates to get around it!
If you're keen to have an impact from day one, you might be our next great Student Representative! The Student Rep works closely with College staff to organise and run events at the College. There's something for everyone, from our annual Ball, to quizzes, theme dinners, movie nights, social sporting competitions, musical jams, and so much more!
One of the most exciting aspects of collegiate life is the annual Inter-College Competition! An extensive programme of sporting, cultural and gaming opportunities, you can have a go at a competitive or participatory level – whatever works for you!
Sporting events include (but are not limited to): cricket, football, rowing, rugby, futsal, basketball, volleyball, netball, and field hockey. Cultural and gaming events include (but are not limited to): a quiz night, gaming competition, board games, laser tag, cultural performance evening, battle of the bands, a talent competition, debating, chess, the 48-hour film festival, pool, and the Big Sing!
We are keen competitors, proudly showcasing our banners in the dining hall – help us add to the collection while having heaps of fun!
Your Flouse (floor+house)
We strive to create exceptional micro-communities when assigning rooms, as we want you to make new friends and have new experiences. Our Flouses quickly become whānau – the time we spend together will become a key part of your social life at Carrington. Your Sub-Warden will organise a range of activities for you to get involved in over the year, and they are always keen for suggestions!
