The purpose of the GCH has been to classify all areas of Aotearoa New Zealand as rural or urban according to their proximity to larger urban areas employing population and drive time that are meaningful with respect to health.

GCH18  StoryMap

This interactive StoryMap was designed by Jesse Whitehead at the University of Waikato. It is based on GHC18 and shows the GCH rurality classification for each SA1 in Aotearoa New Zealand and the location of health facilities in the Ministry of Health's 'Facility Code Table' (updated on 1st October 2022).

COVID-19 vaccination rollout

He Aroka Urutā: Rural-urban variaton in the COVID-19 vaccine roll out. This web app, developed by Rory Miller, aids the examination the vaccination roll-out for specific population groups (e.g. Māori, Pacific people, specific age groups), as well as for a range of geographic areas.
