Research
Dr Chrish Fernando is a Senior Professional Practice Fellow at the University of Otago, Dunedin. As an early career academic and researcher, Dr Fernando has published articles on “The Socioeconomic Status of Toothbrushing Practice in Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Australians” and “Experience of Primary Caregivers in Utilising an mHealth Application for Remote Dental Screening in Preschool Children.” In 2016, Dr Fernando was awarded the Adelaide Research Summer Scholarship at the Robinson Research Institute (The University of Adelaide). In 2020, he was awarded the Griffith Summer Research Scholarship (Griffith University). Dr Fernando’s current research interests are centred around oral health education, mental health and wellbeing, older adult oral health, and epidemiology. He is currently pursuing a Master of Health Professions Education (Thesis and Coursework) at the University of Western Australia while simultaneously providing clinical services, supervision and leadership opportunities at both community and university levels.
