The Department of Medicine (Dunedin) offers annual revision courses for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Divisional Clinical Examination.
These courses provide candidates with the knowledge, motivation, and a plan of action to best prepare themselves for the Clinical Examination, for both long cases and short cases.
The course is divided into two parts:
Two-day course:
- Hybrid online and in-person, with no intake limit
Week-long course:
- In-person only
- Intake limited to 20 places selected from the waitlist
- There is no guarantee that you are enrolled in the week-long course until you have received confirmation from us after the results of the February Written Examination are released
- If you are enrolled in the week-long course, you are automatically enrolled in the two-day course. In person attendance for the two day course is compulsory
Two-day course: 18–19 April 2026, in-person and online
Dates: 18–19 April 2026
Venue: Hybrid online and Barnett Lecture Theatre, Dunedin Hospital
Cost: NZD $599
Format: The course will run in-person and online on Saturday, 18 April and Sunday, 19 April 2026. There will be videos of long and short case examinations available online on the course Moodle for you to view before the course begins.
Recordings: All lectures will be livestreamed and recorded. The recording will be made available to candidates within a 48-hour period after the livestream has ended.
Registration cut off: In-person registration will close Wednesday, 1 April 2026. Online registrations will be accepted until Wednesday, 10 April 2026.
In-person registration includes:
- Physical attendance to all presentations and lectures as well as access to the live stream and online access to the live stream recordings within 48hrs of the live sessions ending
- Hard copies of all specialty course workbooks
- Catering

- Virtual attendance to all presentations and lectures using the live stream as well as online access to the live stream recordings within 48hrs of the live sessions ending
- Electronic copies of all specialty course workbooks
The course provides candidates with an in-depth understanding of the structure of the RACP Clinical Examination and the assessment criteria. It involves lectures and video presentations of long and short case presentations and will ensure candidates are employing proper technique in each instance. The course will provide candidates with the knowledge, motivation and plan of action to best prepare themselves for the clinical exam and maximise their chances of success on exam day.
Two-day course programme
Please note: During session 1.3. you will be shown a recording of the examiners meeting with the patient. For the patient’s privacy, this recording will be livestreamed for all attendees, but it will not be included in the livestream recording. If you want to watch this session, it must be watched live.

Week-long course: 20–24 April 2026, in-person only

Venue: Dunedin Hospital
Cost: NZD $6,000
The week-long course is run in-person only, and the intake is limited to 20 places. It is a practical course with real patients, examiners, and candidates – just like the real exam.
Registration includes:
- Automatic registration for the two-day course. In-person attendance is compulsory
- Hard copies of all two-day course materials and access to all electronic course materials
- A social event – evening of 21 April. Transportation from the hospital will be provided
- Catering
The 20 places in this course will be given to waitlisted candidates. If you would like to be added to the waitlist please email physician.education@otago.ac.nz and provide the following information:
- Full name
- Preferred contact email address
- The location/hospital you will be based at in April 2026
- Your Written Examination status (i.e., have you sat and passed or waiting to sit?)
- Your Clinical Examination status (i.e., will this be your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd attempt?)
Please note: The 20 spots in the course are not allocated until after the February 2026 Divisional Written Examination results are released in March 2026. Being on the waitlist does not guarantee you a spot in the course. We will notify you of your admission status in March 2026, and until that time, no spot in the course is confirmed.
