Overview

Excess body weight is a poor prognostic indicator, whereas increased physical activity is a good prognostic indicator, for many cancers. The molecular pathways and factors involved have not been fully elucidated, but the immune system and inflammation are likely to play an important role.

Potential projects in this area will be highly translational due to our close collaborations with the clinic, and will likely utilise cell culture and clinical samples, together with proteomic and functional approaches.
