Thirst for Knowledge: Learning to work with the ocean
Presented by Dr Rebecca James, department of Marine Science
Runaway carbon, rising seas and extreme storms – the effects of climate change have caught up with us. But the ocean might be part of the solution, and we are learning to work with its natural processes to tackle these problems.
From speeding up weathering to enhance the ocean’s CO2 uptake, to restoring coastal ecosystems to filter water and protect coastlines, researchers are applying nature-based solutions to make us and the environment more climate resilient.
The ocean’s been doing this for millions of years – now we’re learning to help it along.
