We offer both taught and research postgraduate study options for medically qualified doctors and students from other health professional and academic backgrounds.

Postgraduate medical programmes

The Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology (PGDipOMG) and the Postgraduate Certificate in Pregnancy and Medical Gynaecology (PGCertPMG) are distance-taught case-based programmes designed to assist medical practitioners and allied health professionals progress their careers.

They are jointly taught by the Dunedin, Christchurch, and Wellington regions of the Faculty of Medicine.

Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology (PGDipOMG)

The Diploma provides a comprehensive practice-based education in obstetrics and medical gynaecology. It is particularly suitable for general practitioner trainees and doctors considering a career in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Master's and PhD research

We encourage Masters' and PhD students to study with our strong research groups. A medical qualification is not necessary to undertake postgraduate research in our Department.

Throughout her PhD, Rebecca successfully published four papers in peer reviewed journals, and presented her findings at national and international conferences. Her first paper, published in the New Zealand Medical Journal, received widespread media attention, and was reported in multiple New Zealand media outlets.
