The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Dunedin) plays a pivotal role in undergraduate teaching within the medical programme at the Dunedin School of Medicine.
Alongside delivering engaging lectures as part of the Early Learning in Medicine (ELM) curriculum, we provide hands-on, comprehensive training for medical students in their fifth and sixth years.
During the fifth year, students participate in a four-week module providing a mix of topical lectures and clinical experiences. In the sixth year, trainee interns undertake a four-week clinical rotation that emphasises both gynaecology and obstetrics. This combination of theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and a commitment to equitable healthcare equips our students to make a meaningful impact in their future careers.
